Ladies to take control at Newbury

Kentford Grey Lady has no Quevega to chase home today at Newbury. The Emma Lavelle mare's quality will shine through this sunny afternoon on what is an interesting card of mares races  and with also the reappearance of Nicholls disappointing but well touted Mon Parrain later in the afternoon. The racing at Lingfield is a real appetiser for the flat season that starts next week with the Lincoln at Doncaster.


Crockford is still licking his wounds from a difficult last day at the Festival where Boston Bob the Irish certainty was beaten into second and the Queen's pair did not do their royal duty. Crockford hopes for better luck today for him and his followers with his selections.

This time of year this yard's horses always seem to be at their best. This dual purpose hurdler/chaser should have too much for his rivals and looks certain of at least a place a good each way odds. Bet early there may be a big gamble.
