Danedream denies bankers treble

Danedream to return to Longchamp
The German filly Danedream returned to sensational form to beat Nathaniel in a thrilling finish to a vintage King George. Her win denied the Rothschild family a big race weekend treble.

The Rothschild's landed the Irish Oaks with Great Heavens' amazing turn of foot at the Curragh and the Grosser Preis von Berlin with the determined Meandre, but were denied by the nod of a head landing the King George & Queen Elizabeth Stakes. Their Nathaniel raced to the lead in the closing stages only to be beaten on the line by the fast finishing filly and her jockey Andrasch Starke. Starke elated with Danedream's performance commented to ATR that she was "all heart" and had been below par in her last outing at Saint Cloud. Her next engagement will be back in Germany as preparation for an attempt at a repeat win in the Arc. Quoted at 6/1 with firms she will face a number of her rivals from yesterday including the second and third. The gallant second Nathaniel is also offered at around 6/1 with the Rothschild's weekend winner Meandre at 12/1.
